Bioport TriCombo treatment and recovery

Understand the single-injection format, prepare for your appointment and plan your return to everyday activity with clear aftercare and follow-up.

At a glance

A single injection within a complete care plan

TriCombo is supplied as a pre-filled syringe for injection into the knee joint. The single-injection format makes the procedure one part of a straightforward pathway: assess the knee, agree the treatment, give the injection and review how you respond.

Your appointment should also establish the details that make the plan work for you. These include the technique, whether image guidance is appropriate, aftercare, follow-up and the activities you will use to judge progress. Knowing these details in advance helps you arrange work, travel and support at home.

Before treatment: agree the details

Confirm which knee is being treated and ensure that the clinician knows about previous injections, operations and implants. Bring your medication list and mention allergies or any recent change in health. If you develop an infection or a skin problem around the knee before the appointment, contact the clinic.

You will also want a clear quotation and an explanation of what is included. Ask about follow-up arrangements and who to contact afterwards. If you are travelling to London, discuss the timing before booking your journey so the practical arrangements fit the proposed treatment.

What happens during the appointment

The clinician reviews the treatment plan and consent, answers your remaining questions and prepares the injection site using the appropriate sterile technique. TriCombo is administered into the joint; the exact approach and any use of local anaesthetic or image guidance are clinical decisions.

The product’s pre-filled format means the combined formulation is delivered from a single syringe. Tell the clinician if you are anxious about needles or have felt faint during procedures before. The team can talk you through what is happening and explain what you should expect immediately afterwards.

What the formulation is intended to do inside the knee

The injection places the formulation directly into the joint rather than relying on an oral supplement reaching it through the digestive system. Its intended role is to supplement the synovial fluid, using a viscoelastic solution designed around lubrication and mechanical support.

Viscoelastic describes a material that has both fluid-like and elastic behaviour. The manufacturer presents this as part of TriCombo’s design for the moving, load-bearing environment of a knee. The formulation page explains the ingredients and their physical association in more detail.

The first few days: follow a clear activity plan

Ask for written advice about movement, exercise, pain relief, work and travel. Your instructions should relate to the procedure actually performed and your own health and activity demands. Allow room in your schedule to follow that advice rather than planning a demanding activity immediately after treatment.

Some discomfort or swelling can occur after a joint injection. A knee that becomes increasingly hot, swollen or very painful, particularly with fever or feeling unwell, needs urgent medical assessment. Contact the treating team promptly, or seek urgent medical care if you cannot reach them.

  1. 1Share your medicines
  2. 2Follow your aftercare
  3. 3Know who to contact

05 · Your treatment pathway

Build your activity around the agreed goals

Return to activity according to your clinician’s advice. A clear plan might start with normal daily movement and then build towards the tasks you identified at assessment. Keep the focus on what your knee tolerates and the rehabilitation advice you have been given.

A simple record can make follow-up more useful: note walking comfort, stairs, swelling after activity and any change in pain relief use. You do not need to monitor every step. A few consistent observations help you describe the overall direction of progress and identify questions for your review.

Follow-up and the manufacturer’s six-month schedule

Bioport’s brochure describes a six-month treatment interval. That is a manufacturer schedule, rather than a promise that every patient will experience the same duration of benefit or need an automatic repeat injection.

At review, discuss how the knee has responded, what has changed in your daily life and whether the original goals remain appropriate. A further treatment decision can then take account of your response, current symptoms and the wider plan. The useful outcome is a clear next step, with continued rehabilitation or another treatment discussion where appropriate.

Your TriCombo questions, answered

Will I need a course of weekly injections?

TriCombo is presented as one injection per treatment. Your clinician will explain the proposed appointment and review schedule.

When can I drive?

Ask for advice based on the knee treated, the procedure and any medicines used. Resume driving only when you can safely control the vehicle and perform an emergency stop.

When can I return to exercise?

Follow the personalised aftercare plan. The timetable depends on your symptoms, the activity involved and the treating clinician’s advice.

Should I stop my medication?

Do not stop prescribed medication without advice. Share your medication list before treatment so the clinician can tell you whether any adjustment is needed.

Does the six-month schedule mean guaranteed six-month relief?

No. It is the interval described in the manufacturer’s product information. The duration and degree of benefit are individual and are reviewed against your symptoms and goals.
